DOJ Officials Warn of “764” Extortion Group Targeting Adolescents

The group, which targets vulnerable teenagers, uses social media to progress their goal of causing a downfall of society.

Officials in the Department of Justice (DOJ) recently issued a warning about an online extremist network called “764.” The organization is known for targeting vulnerable young people through different online platforms and coercing them into harming themselves and/or others through threats and blackmail. All of this is streamed on social media sites for others to watch.

Justice Department National Security Division Attorney Justin Sher said that, for these organizations, “content is currency. So they are building their content inventory… and putting it out there to build their status within these groups.”

The Justice Department explained, “764 is a network of nihilistic violent extremists who engage in criminal conduct in the United States and abroad, seeking to destroy civilized society through the corruption and exploitation of vulnerable populations, which often include minors. The 764 network’s accelerationist goals include social unrest and the downfall of the current world order, including the United States Government.”

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children stated that over 2,000 reports of abuse connected to 764, and other similar networks, were received in the first nine months of 2025. This number is double the number the agency received last year.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently investigating over 350 people across the U.S., whom they suspect are connected to 764 or other coercive networks.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney Sher and his DOJ colleagues as they seek to protect children and prosecute the perpetrators of this violent extremism.
  • For Attorney General Bondi and federal prosecutors as they bring cases against child exploiters.
  • For Director Patel and agents in the FBI as they investigate suspects connected with coercive networks.
